The 2021 Impact Report is here!

With dozens of primary elections already behind us, and many more on the horizon before we reach November, it’s safe to say that the Midterm Election Cycle is in full effect! As we continue to charge through 2022, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate everything we accomplished last year.

What did VIP achieve in 2021?

Our work helped prove there’s no such thing as an “off year” when it comes to elections. In total, we covered 108 elections last year.

In November 2021 alone, we covered:

  • 30,301 polling places,

  • 4,935 drop box locations,

  • and 1,368 early voting sites!

Thanks to the continued partnership of more than 40 state and 150 local election offices, the Voting Information Project is an essential part of the voting experience for millions of Americans, regardless of the year.

What’s next for Democracy Works?

VIP is a program of the nonpartisan, civic tech nonprofit, Democracy Works. Each year, Democracy Works activates our full suite of tools to help America vote – and 2022 will be no exception. This year, we are centering growth, renewal, and innovation to ensure that we remain poised to power civic participation for years to come.

Growth in the size, reach, and impact of our programs and tools will enable us to reach more voters, support more election administrators, and surface more official, trusted voting information.

Renewal of our technology and team will ensure that we remain a resilient and sustainable organization that voters, election administrators, and our partners can continue to rely on.

Innovation in our partnerships, tools, and programs to support voters will help us further streamline the voting process – even as barriers to the ballot intensify.

We’re so proud of all that we accomplished last year, and we’re so excited for all that we’ll achieve this year and beyond!
